The European Commission, through its Asia Invest programme, initiated a study
on the consequences of the on-going trade and economic integration in the ASEAN
for European companies.
A large survey to EU companies was conducted. The results provided a very useful
benchmark on what are the perception, expectations and obstacles when targeting
ASEAN as a regional market.
The results were fully available for the companies that filled-out the questionnaire.
The objective of the study is to help European companies to understand and to
benefit from this integration process and to support their operations (trade
and investment) in the ASEAN countries.
- The concrete output of the study is an 'Investor's Guidebook' describing
the Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) process and the prospects for further economic
integration in the region, and identifying sector / business opportunities for
EU companies.
